Observe, Critique, Create

Thank you for helping us pilot activities for a resource we are developing for students visiting The Hepworth Wakefield.

We want to help support your time visiting the gallery and to enable you to meaningfully engage with artworks that inform your independent interests and creative journeys.

Today we are testing three resources around the themes OBSERVE, CRITIQUE and CREATE.

OBSERVE

There are many ways you can OBSERVE artworks to gather ideas that feed into your personal investigation.

Use this video in the galleries to try new ways to OBSERVE.

CRITIQUE

Thinking critically and discussing art deepens our understanding about the artwork, and can help you think about how your own work may be interpreted.

Use this audio in the galleries to CRITIQUE an artwork in pairs or small groups.

CREATE

Making creative responses to artwork can spark ideas that feed into your own work, or help you to CREATE solutions to a question or problem you’ve been working on in your own practice.

Use the activity sheet in the galleries to help you CREATE using one simple material.

FEEDBACK

We would really appreciate your feedback on the activities you have experienced today to help inform the development of the resources.

Please complete this short online form.

Thanks again for helping us pilot activities at The Hepworth Wakefield.
