Schools & Colleges: Out & About
This summer we worked with Year 7 students and their family members from Airedale Academy and St Thomas á Beckets Catholic Secondary School in Wakefield.
Sam Read led the project engaging families with modern art and the local landscape. We explored work by international artists and local sculptors such as Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. He lead a series of workshops in school, at The Hepworth Wakefield, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Heath Common.
The project closed with a celebration event and exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield where families were invited to share their experiences and celebrate their achievements.
Thank you to Sir George Martin Trust and Holbeck Charitable Trust for there support.

The Hepworth Wakefield worked with Year 8 & 9 students and their family members from De Lacy Academy, Wakefield City Academy and Airedale Academy to engage with a series of visits to The Hepworth Wakefield, Brimham Rocks, Nostell Priory and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
The project introduced participants to Barbara Hepworth’s work and the Yorkshire landscape, raised aspirations, built confidence and promoted engagement with cultural organisations.
