The Hepworth Wakefield partners with Google Arts and Culture
12 Sep 2017
The Hepworth Wakefield is the first arts venue in West Yorkshire to partner with Google Arts and Culture to bring more of its collection, exhibitions and stories to large audiences around the world.
The partnership came into effect earlier this year, as part of the #WeWearCulture project, showcasing the hugley successful exhibition, Disobedient Bodies: JW Anderson Curates The Hepworth Wakefield, and the cross over between art and fashion.
From today (Tuesday 12 September), the partnership with Google Arts and Culture is strengthened further as selected exhibitions and artworks from the collection are added to Google’s site as part of their ‘What Is Contemporary Art?’ project. Including The Hepworth Prize For Sculpture and Anthea Hamilton’s reimagining of Kettle’s Yard.
Online audiences will also be able to explore the life of Barbara Hepworth and view a short history of The Hepworth Wakefield, which was named Art Fund Museum of the Year in July 2017.
The Hepworth Wakefield is now also be part of Google Street View, offering a unique digital journey of the galleries – including the permanent displays of work by Barbara Hepworth – and public areas.
