Happy Birthday NHS!
06 Jul 2020
On 5 July 1948, the National Health Service in Britain was born. Its aim was to provide good healthcare to all, regardless of wealth. To mark 72 years since the NHS was founded and to remember the lives lost during the 2020 pandemic, The Hepworth Wakefield joined many landmarks up and down the country in being illuminated blue. We are proud to join the collective tribute to NHS staff, key workers and everyone who has played their part during the pandemic, one of the most challenging periods in NHS history. Thank you.
Thank you also to Wakefield Council and Innovation Productions for enabling The Hepworth Wakefield to turn blue, to Mark Newton for the photographs, to David Chipperfield Architects for a beautifully designed building and Tom Stuart-Smith for his gorgeous garden.
