Alice Channer (b. 1977, Oxford, UK) trained at Goldsmith’s College, London, and The Royal College of Art. She lives and works in London. Channer’s work traces the disappearance, mutation and possible evolution of a body in post-industrial environments. Channer creates sculptures that address the distortion of materials, often stretching objects to warp their position within the landscape. She uses items such as rocks, clothing, and shampoo bottles, which she then mutates through casting or expanding to monumental scales.
Her solo exhibition Invertebrates was at The Hepworth Wakefield February – May 2013.
‘I approach my work with love and care, but it always feels like I’m getting ready for a fight.’
